Time Zone

Myanmar is 6 hours and 30 minutes ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).


Since Myanmar’s weather is mostly hot and dry, lightweight and cotton clothing will be more comfortable. However, if your tour visit includes northern area of Myanmar such as Inlay, Kalaw, Pindaya, Kyaingtong, Pyin Oo Lwin and Lashio etc, you will need to bring warm clothing.

Health care

Since medicines are very limited in Myanmar, ensure to bring your sufficient medication if you are using prescribed drugs or medicine. If you are travelling during March through November, anti-malaria precaution is required.


The current is 220 Volts/50 cycles and uses 2 flat pin plugs (US style). Converters should be taken into Myanmar as they may not be available.Since the power cuts are often happened in Myanmar, having a torch light with you is highly recommended.

Internet Access

Internet has improved noticeably in recent years. There are quite a few internet cafes in Yangon but the speed may not be up to your expectation while the rate is cheap. Most of the mid-range to first class hotels facilitates Wifi access for their guests. If you bring your laptop, you can access free wifi at most of the high standard café and restaurants.

Mobile Phone

Yangon International Airport has a mobile phone rental shop run by Yadanarpon Teleport. They have various handsets and SIM cards. A deposit of USD 100 has to be paid. The rental charge is USD 2 per day and rental of smart phone handsets costs USD 4 a day. They have particular SIM cards that can be used to access internet; you will need to mention it though. The rental is not inclusive of call charges hence you will need to purchase a “top-up card” which cost from Kyat 10,000 to Kyat 30,000.
