Those who visits Myanmar or who is dealing with Myanmar people should abserve certain ruls of “Do’s and Don’t” to keep up his politeness and social etiquette. Be a responsible tourists. Here is the official tips from Ministry of Hotels & Tourism, Myanmar.

 

In addition to that we, HappyFootprints.com, would like to add a few more pointers for you.

Dos

  • Let the eldest of the group to be served first.
  • Do carry wet tissue with you as most of the public bathrooms do not have toilet paper.
  • Sit a step lower than monks and elders.
  • Accept or give things with your right hand or both hands.

Don’ts

  • Do not wear the shoes and shorts at the pagodas and monasteries.
  • Do not offer food to monks, nun or novice after noon.
  • Do not offer to shake hands with them too.
